Let me ask you a question: Have you ever had a thought where you wanted to put your voice, opinion, and the things you love out into the world? These days, most people do that with social media like Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube and more. While all of those work fine, they all have their own drawbacks. For instance, YouTube has heavy moderation, TikTok is short content only, and the rest of them are only text or images. However, there is another medium that is mostly forgotten by our generation: Podcasting. In this article, I’m going to be taking you, step by step, through the process of starting your podcast and getting your voice out into the world!
Before we begin, I want to put a few things out there. Firstly, podcasting is not without its drawbacks. You can’t add video to a podcast (unless you’re on Spotify, but I’ll get to that), and chances are it will be harder to become popular than on TikTok or YouTube where one video can blow up and you get an audience in the thousands at least. Another thing is that getting started with podcasting takes a fair amount of cash. The equipment I have suggested in this article costs in total 492.94$ (with the headphones being on sale) and hiring a team (if you don’t do it with your friends) costs more as well. I would highly recommend starting with friends to split the costs and avoid having to hire freelancers. One final thing: If you’re doing this on a whim and don’t think you’ll keep making episodes for very long, don’t bother with the equipment and hiring a team parts of this article. Now, with all of that out of the way, let’s get into it, starting at the beginning of the process and working our way through.
